This is an exempt level position.

Position Summary:

The Director of Release Management and Cutover is accountable for the overall strategy and delivery of our global, multi-technology, release management and cutover team. This role is responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of all Release Management and Cutover staff. The candidate manage the team that is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordination and execution of releases across business and technical solutions supporting the enterprise for all our end-to-end processes. Releases can be inclusive of new solution implementations, updates to existing solutions, operating system patches, security improvements, and hardware installs and upgrades.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall technology leadership and define release management and cutover strategy for the enterprise

  • Develop common strategies for release and cutover governance processes and practices to support the solution lifecycle for all enterprise system capabilities

  • Establish consistent release management and cutover processes and KPIs, including an enterprise-wide release calendar to provide a common centralized view of all releases

  • Coaches and supports the on-going education of the IT teams and IT leaders, as required, to drive and maintain adherence to defined standards and objectives.

  • Proactively plan the release windows across projects and programs within the portfolio by coordinating with program/project/portfolio managers and solution and technical leaders to review proposed release scope across all business and technical solutions

  • Work with release content owners and deployment teams to understand key business, system, and/or technology interdependencies in addition to back-out/contingency plans in support of cutover planning activities

  • Maintains the release schedule for all core services and ensure alignment across key internal and external partner and vendors.

  • Coordinate assessment of risks and issues which affect release scope, schedule and/or quality

  • Measure and monitor progress to ensure release and cutover scope are delivered on time and meets or exceeds defined quality stage gate criteria

  • Maintains a release repository and manages key information such as build and release procedures, dependencies, and notification lists

  • Research new software development and configuration management methodologies and technologies and analyzes their application to current configuration management needs

  • Conduct retrospectives to identify what went well, what didn't go well, and areas of improvement

  • Attract, retain, and develop global talent

  • Provide leadership and guidance to coach, mentor, and lead team to advance performance and career development

  • Ensure teams are properly trained in required methodologies and processes

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree related to Information Systems, Business, or other relevant academic discipline

  • Minimum 12+ years of experience in a large-scale, enterprise environment leading both Agile Scrum and Waterfall teams

  • Familiarity with SAP implementation methodologies and best practices, including transport management (SAP Charm, Retrofit).

  • Experience with change management and version control tools.

  • At least 5 years of previous release management and cutover experience.

  • Advanced knowledge of software development lifecycle

  • Proven track record of managing teams and direct reports, ability to build and grow team to meet demands

  • Experience working with 3rd party vendors / service providers across a solution landscape

  • Expected to complete projects within specified deadlines

  • Experience with Project Management methodologies, preparing budgets, and resource planning

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, changing environment, and with all levels of the organization

  • Strong analytical, organization, time management and process management skills

  • Demonstrated high level of written, verbal and interpersonal skills to communicate information, status, ideas, procedures and processes in a logical sequence; at a level appropriate to the audience and resulting in effective working relationships

  • Proven ability to build long-term relationships with customers and business partners

  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly

  • Expected to work occasional weekends, holidays, overtime, or a variety of shifts, when needed, to meet deadlines

  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed to achieve business objectives – 15-30%
