Wheat Runner- Charlotte, NC

This is a Full Time, Hourly Position

Safety and Health

Duties: Evaluate employee safe work practices according to ADM policies and procedures. Perform VBS observations. Conduct shift transition and huddle meetings on a daily basis. Actively attend all safety training and meetings as required.

Objective: Ensure a safe working environment for both employees and visitors.

Production

Duties: Set proper mill wheat mix, follow production sheet to pull and temper proper wheat mix, monitor cleaning house to minimize wheat loss, operate cleaning house to temper wheat to desired level of moisture for optimal milling efficiency. Monitoring and adding ingredients to ingredient feeders.

Objective: Ensure mill has proper wheat mix, wheat has optimal moisture gain, and production schedule is followed.

Quality

Duties: Sampling raw wheat; proper wheat mix adjustments; temper water adjustments; setting and monitoring ingredient feeder rates;

Objective: Produce a food safe product that meets the specifications of the customer.

Maintenance Repair

Duties: Participate in mill and cleaning house repairs to include: roll changes, sifter repair, filter sock changing, purifier repair, spout repairs, lubrication and preventive maintenances. This also includes changing or cleaning blower filters, replacing sprockets, chains, and other repairs that would not require an experienced maintenance employee. Take direction from Miller Supervisor and Mill Superintendent for preventive maintenance practices.

Objective: Optimize cleaning house efficiency and minimize unscheduled downtime.

Security

Duties: Monitor and control visitor entries and periodically monitor outside perimeters when required.

Objective: Ensure maximum level of security.

Food Safety

Duties: Monitor and control cleaning house feed in stations; perform weekly magnet checks; and document all rebuilt and patent sifter repairs. Comply with all HACCP procedures while maintaining master cleaning schedules.

Objective: Ensure a quality product through systematic procedures.

Sanitation

Duties: Follow proper master sanitation and all cleaning procedures within all areas.

Objective: Control and maintain required housekeeping standards.

  • Must be willing to work rotating shifts

Equipment Used/Physical Environment/Working Conditions

Extremely warm in the summer months with high noise levels and high powered milling equipment, which includes extensive use of equipment for grinding. Must adhere to PPE requirements.
