Director of Sales-Animal Nutrition- North America

This is a full time, exempt position

The Director of Sales is responsible for directly managing the North American sales group. The successful candidate will manage and implement sales strategies for the Specialty Feed Ingredients business. The Director of Sales will actively participate in preparing and executing annual business plans, and will work closely with our Regional Sales Managers, International Sales Offices, Distribution Sales, Product Managers, Plant Operations, Customer Service, Credit and R&D groups to meet customer needs and business goals. The position reports to the Vice President, Global Feed Additives & Ingredients.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Determine annual unit and gross-profit plans by implementing marketing strategies; analyzing trends and results.

  • Establishes sales objectives by forecasting and developing annual sales quotas for regions and territories; projecting expected sales volume and profit for existing and new products.

  • Implements national/global sales programs by developing field sales action plans.

  • Maintains sales volume, product mix, and selling price by keeping current with supply and demand, changing trends, economic indicators, and competitors.

  • Establishes and adjusts selling prices by monitoring costs, competition, and supply and demand.

  • Completes national sales operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.

  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

  • Sets team culture and coaches reports to develop pipeline of future talent

Sales Director Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Business Administration, Marketing, Master’s degree preferred

  • Progressive experience managing sales teams

  • Responsible and accountable for developing and executing business strategies to deliver growth in accordance with the strategic plans

  • Develop and ensure Group commercial procedures are maintained by sharing best practice and continual improvement to protect company's commercial position, including measurement tools to forecast success alongside the VP or their designates

  • Formulation and implementation of interventions to deliver sustained performance in terms of securing tenders and new business opportunities.

  • To guide and direct commercial activity to maximize the potential of products and services, to support delivery against KPI’s and targets.

Job Description (Continued):

  • Direct and in-direct management of commercial activity via the group and through business units.

  • Responsibility for new business development, negotiations and commercial contracts in line with proposed budgeted growth.

  • Experience of working with large multi-site and multi-national companies to deliver skills solutions, contributing to budget delivery and growing the business in line with projected growth.

  • Proven successful track record in sales, with an understanding of the strategic approach to long term objectives, and the strength of commercial returns from a partnering approach

  • Results driven, possessing a proven track record of delivering against targets

  • The ability to successfully negotiate large contracts with companies and partners for delivery by the business units

  • A results focused approach in order to focus on delivering commercial income

  • Strong communication skills both internally and externally, with the ability to influence and debate at senior levels, in order to get the right result.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present strategy and results to staff members at every level of the organization
