Manager, Operational Technology (OT) - Enterprise Services, North America (NA)

This is an exempt level position.

Ideal work locations for this role include: Decatur, IL; Cedar Rapids or Clinton, IA; or Erlanger, KY. Other large ADM manufacturing locations are open for consideration.

Position Summary:

As a key member of the Operational Technology (OT) team, you will be responsible for managing and advancing the standardization and innovation of OT endpoint engineering and support, which is vital to helping ensure safe, reliable, and secure operations for ADM.

You will work closely with OT and Process Automation (PA) engineers; and partner with key business segments, Global Technology (GT), and your global OT peers to ensure the successful delivery of OT solutions to ADM operations for our North America region.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Direct, manage and maintain OT endpoint ecosystem globally (thin clients, PCs, scanners, mobile devices, etc.)

  • Coordinate endpoint activities with other OT/PA managers to help prevent plant interruptions

  • Develop approved patch lists for OT Systems Admins group; Drive implementation of patches

  • Develop OT endpoint device and procedure standards to help ensure compliance (configurations, images, hardware, etc.)

  • Develop OT Standards for DCS (Distributed Control System) Software Delivery aligned with Process Automation (PA)

  • Develop and implement OT endpoint strategy

  • Drive application architecture standards through GT approval processes (IT Architecture Committee (ITAC), Cloud vetting, Software vetting etc.)

  • Align with PA and Manufacturing Analytics & Technology (MA&T) on OT Application Design and Support Delivery

  • Manage Application Delivery to endpoints through SCCM

  • Develop Application Delivery strategy for MES applications (Manufacturing Execution Systems)

  • Manage End User Support through global ServiceNow queue for OT and drive ServiceNow platform enhancements.

  • Help drive improvements in OT service management processes and metrics to drive performance and continuous improvement in order to speed execution and enhance customer satisfaction

  • Develop and maintain Knowledge Base (KB) for OT applications, incidents and requests

  • Work with the OT Systems Infrastructure team to design and implement standard Virtual Desktop Infrastructure solution

  • Perform capacity planning and lifecycle management to ensure all End User Equipment, including endpoint hardware, firmware, and software in order to provide seamless service to plants

  • Maintain compliance for endpoint-related OS licensing

  • Drive deployment of endpoint management tooling

  • Follow best practice project methodology guidelines and standards and help drive team adoption.

  • Manage the team of OT Application Support and End User Computing (EUC) Field Engineers within the North America region. Prioritize/Deploy resources in order to meet project deliverables in coordination with other work groups

  • Manage, develop, coach, and motivate direct reports through diversity and inclusion, leadership capabilities, Ability to Execute (A2E) and Performance Excellence (PE)

  • Manage third-party suppliers/contractors (where applicable); Participate in vendor evaluations, recommend and review functional and overall system design, and complete technical planning to improve systems productivity and efficiency

  • Some travel, on call, and monitoring of our ServiceNow OT Queues for service management are expected as part of this position as a member of the Global OT Leadership Team

Required Skills:

  • Knowledge of ITSM (IT Service Management) and ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) processes and practices

  • Ability to think ‘outside the box’

  • Demonstrated experience managing the lifecycle, maintenance, and upgrades of endpoint technologies

  • Strong communication skills - communicate at a conceptual level as well as at a hands-on, practical level

  • Highly motivated, self-starter

  • Comfortable working with cross-functional global teams

  • Strong documentation and organizational skills

  • Must have the ability to skillfully manage multiple projects simultaneously and succeed in an environment of competing priorities

  • Demonstrated ability to lead by delivering on commitments and managing by example

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment; willingness to learn new skills and take direction from other team members; and ability to organize information and manage time efficiently

Education Requirements:

  • Minimum of Associates Degree in a technical area (computer science, engineering, etc.), Bachelor’s Degree preferred

Required Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience supporting enterprise-level technology operations and services

  • 5+ years of experience managing technical staff, including a 24x7 network infrastructure/operations staff

  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
