This is a full time, exempt position
ADM Capex CoE is seeking a Project Manager to lead the management of capital projects to drive growth and improve operations throughout the Specialty Ingredients division. The Project Manager will oversee the design and implementation of projects as required to meet the needs of the growing Nutrition business. This includes identifying/evaluating project opportunities, requesting authorization for projects, as well as handling a broad range of responsibilities for complex capital projects thru the project phases of Identification, Definition, Design, Execution, and Evaluation. As a member of the Capex CoE team, this colleague will have the opportunity to utilize engineering skills to improve operations including reliability, yields, and cost reductions throughout all the North American Specialty Ingredient locations.
Ensure stewardship of viable capital projects from inception to commissioning
Effective management of personnel and resources to balance schedules, budgets, and scope/quality of projects
Provide oversight of equipment and contractor personnel during the course of projects by working in the field daily
Written and verbal communication of project activities and key metrics shall be provided to managers and other partners
Develop requests for proposals, equipment sizing, equipment utility lists, detail P&ID’s, and other front end engineering tasks
Proactively participate in safety, environmental, quality, and production processes in order to ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures
Assist in developing operating procedures and training production personnel on unit operations for start-up
Maintain an awareness of industry trends and investigate the means by which projects can be improved, implemented, and managed - this includes gathering lessons learned and developing standard methodologies ensuring compliance with all relevant engineering standards and internal procedures
Develop colleagues through training, technical support, and mentoring opportunities.
Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or related field
Minimum of 7 years of project/process engineering experience, PSM experience a plus
Ability to apply engineering proficiencies to practical real world situations
Colleague will design processing systems and equipment required for the production of food grade products
General knowledge of codes, relevant standards, and materials/metallurgy related to processing equipment
Knowledge of industrial chemical and food production plant processes and related systems such as: pressure vessels, reactors, distillation, spray drying, piping, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, controls, dry powder technologies, utilities, packaging, and other unit operations is desired
Strong leadership, management, and interpersonal skills are necessary to be a valued colleague in the Capex CoE Group. Interpersonal skills employed include handling conflict, motivating personnel, as well as instructing/training/mentoring less experienced engineers. Effectively interact with multiple employees and managers throughout multiple locations.
The candidate must be able to continuously improve utilizing independent judgment to solve problems and have excellent organizational skills in order to effectively handle multiple ongoing tasks.
Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and manage personnel, budgets, schedules, and other resources.
Excellent communication skills – both oral and detailed written are needed to be effective in this position.
General knowledge of software systems such as PI, Maximo, Microsoft Office applications (Project, Excel, Word, and SharePoint), and AutoCAD.
Employee will work in a plant environment and is expected to initiate work based on general instructions from management. The physical requirements of the job requires ability to climb stairs, lift 50 pounds, prolonged periods of standing and sitting, computer work, working in confined spaces and from heights, bending, kneeling, working adjusted hours, and working as instructed. Timely attendance is a must.
