Position Summary:
A Vitamin E Process Engineer will work with both hourly and salary colleagues in various areas of the operations, including production, engineering, quality, maintenance and commercial to support the facilities goals of a safe and efficient operation. The process engineer will need to understand a variety of processing technologies including distillation, crystallization, extraction, chromatography, and various chemical reaction processes. This role will assist with day-to-day operations of the facility and in supporting Performance Excellence pillars. This position is also responsible for process improvements in all facets of operation through direct contributions of project development from conception though start-up. This position will also work with the Process Safety Teams to update P&IDs, Control Narratives, Asset Criticality and Mechanical Integrity activities.
Responsibilities
Interacts directly with plant management to produce desired operational results and employee development
Oversight of specific processes that may include projects. Project management may require, purchasing of materials and supplies, equipment installation, budget tracking, employee training, and startup of projects.
Lead Total Process Safety and Process Safety Management related tasks such as Mechanical Integrity, Asset Criticality, and Preventative Maintenance best practices.
Develop and update P&IDs, Control Narratives, and other documentation needed to safely operate the Vitamin E plant.
Recommendations for improvements to company facilities, equipment, and safety programs
Supports Quality and the Food Safety Management System and possibly as member of that team.
Serves as a primary contact for major operational, production, and maintenance projects and coordinates internal and external resources as needed.
Project design, development and management that are specific to the operations
Process and cost tracking with focus on cost savings and rate improvement upgrades.
Participates in employee performance management
Provide feedback, mentorship and support to operators and engineers to achieve short term and long-term department performance through use of KPI’s, continuous improvement, and Performance Excellence concepts
Requirements:
B.S. in Engineering is required. Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial preferred.
4 plus years engineering experience. Chemical or food processing is preferred.
Plant operations experience with a focus on total process safety or process safety management is helpful.
Project management experience / background is helpful.
