CD&D Beverage Senior Director - Erlanger, KY

This is a full-time, exempt level position.

Job Purpose:

This role is independently responsible for directing the work and developing the capabilities of the North America CD&D Beverage team. This individual will be responsible for building and maintaining successful teams, developing people, building trust and respect, fostering relationships with customers and team members, as well as driving and adapting to change.

Goals and Objectives:

  • Develop the CD&D Beverage technical capabilities against the North America business strategy

  • Drive accountability throughout CD&D to ensure team ownership of results against initiatives

  • Build a highly competent world class organization by demonstrating leadership when guiding and developing staff, through the development of clear, achievable and measurable stretch goals for the team

  • Drive everyday project execution against customer targets and CD&D KPI’s

  • Support and visit key beverage accounts

  • Work with Regional and Global leads to ensure support for global initiatives and customers

  • Support innovation pipeline for regional and global programs

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Independently direct the development, implementation and execution of the work from his/her CD&D team, while holding team accountable for safe, stable, legal and design commitments.

  • Assess, recommend, and deliver selected customer projects to ensure margin and profitability protection, as well as relaying strategic importance of identified opportunities to broader team.

  • Develop and implement CD&D technical strategic plan for the Beverage Market Segment; support the utilization of the ADM ingredient portfolio across the Nutrition Business Unit.

  • Create and nurture a culture of diversity, inclusivity and collaboration, with a drive to win and a focus on safety first.

  • Direct, coach and train a department/team of Directors, Flavorists, Managers, Scientists and Technicians.

  • Identify, train and implement best practices across the team.

  • Mentor selected cross-functional team members, to provide objective insight and guidance on career path and progression.

  • Establish goals and priorities for CD&D Beverage and balance resources to achieve objectives.

  • Manage quarterly and annual performance evaluations, continuity planning and career progression for direct reports, and coordinate with CD&D as a whole.

  • Accompany account managers on sales calls, influencing project direction as the technical lead; provide customer support in lieu of the Account Manager.

  • Understand industry segments (trends, marketing, technical and business) and determine how ADM Nutrition can capitalize on opportunities by developing technical programs.

  • Drive innovation by encouraging the exploration of new ideas and the development of supporting prototypes, along with business rationale

  • Partner with Global colleagues to leverage capabilities and drive customer business opportunities.

  • Represent CD&D as a senior manager in all areas of the business and operations

Key Skills and Knowledge:

  • BS degree or higher (in Food Science or related field) with 18+ years’ experience or MS degree (in Food Science or related field) with 15+ years’ experience.

  • Broad technical knowledge of Food and/or Beverage development and processing.

  • Extensive knowledge of industry market trends.

  • People Management Skills – The Individual has ability to manage, develop and coach people through direct accountability of success factors. Routine monitoring, follow-up, corrective action and routine reporting is required.

  • Project Management Skills – The Individual has ability to manage complex technical and business programs through direct accountability of success factors to achieve a goal. Routine monitoring, follow-up, corrective action and routine reporting is required

  • Influencing Skills – The Individual has the aptitude to influence, motivate, persuade and beneficially achieve shared goals with others.

  • Business skills and customer management experience.

  • Working knowledge of financial modeling with respect to managing customer and company costs, pricing, etc.
