ADM Milling – Carbohydrate Solutions

This is a full-time, hourly position.

This job works primarily in the corn mill under the supervision of the Mill Superintendent. This is a 12 hour shift position. The back-up miller is expected to learn the functions of all pieces of equipment in the mill. The back-up miller is responsible for the sanitation of the mills and mill areas and product transfers. The back-up Miller will also be trained in our Hominy/Bulk Loading area. A back-up miller is expected to have basic computer skills, record keeping, and written communication skills.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Interact regularly with peers and management to pursue continuous improvement of facility operations and promote a teamwork focused environment

  • Communicate with team/shift employees concerning proper operation of equipment, changes in flow rates or processing capabilities safety concerns, product quality issues and maintenance issues

  • May be trained to operate forklifts

  • Understand and adhere to ADM's Safety, Environmental Compliance and Food Quality and goal of achieving a zero-injury culture.

  • Maintaining a safe and clean work environment

  • Exhibit regular and prompt attendance and maintain attendance record in accordance with company policy

  • Operating equipment associated with the loadout and unloading process for bulk materials including trucks and/or rail cars, forklifts, skid steers, utilizing scales, pumps, conveyor, etc.

  • Other duties as assigned

Health, Safety & Environmental:

  • Facilitate and ensure adherence to safety regulations, rules and sound practices.

  • Ensure that unsafe behavior and conditions are corrected.

Production:

  • Assists the shift miller in overseeing equipment operations of all three milling units as part of a team

  • Optimize yields, moistures, capacity and product quality in accordance with budgetary parameters

  • Maintains records in accordance with established ADM policies and procedures

  • Assists external departments

  • Proactively seeks and supports the plant goals and vision in accordance with ADM Milling’s strategic vision

  • Bases all decisions, perform acts and personify self in the best interest of the company

  • Proactively support operational excellence initiatives.

  • Continually train and develop operational team members.

Sanitation/Food Safety:

  • Ensure the facility maintains world class sanitation standards.

  • Prepare the facility for, and participate in, regulatory/third party/customer/company audits.

Job Qualifications:

  • Ability to stand and walk continuously for 8 hours if necessary

  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders

  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds/23 kilograms

  • Must be willing to work weekends and required overtime

  • Must have reliable transportation to work including.

  • Must be able to direct other employees in proper safety, food safety, and sanitation procedures

  • Must be able to complete paperwork and plant control documentation in both written and computerized

  • Must be willing to learn about and operate all equipment in the milling department

  • Must be willing to follow all safety and food safety rules and procedures

  • This position may require work outside of the building.
