Quality Manager – Quincy, IL (Animal Nutrition)

This is a full-time, exempt position.

General Job Description:

  • Develop and maintain Quality department including personnel.

  • Oversee technical job training and documentation for Quality Technicians.

  • Act as chairman of the Food Safety Committee.

  • Conduct Monthly Food Safety Audits and compile, assign and verify Monthly Food Safety Audit Deficiencies.

  • Participate in the Management Review Meetings.

  • Oversee the ‘Pest Management’ program and communicate trends / issues to the management team as needed.

  • Implement and maintain Prerequisite, Food Safety and Quality Programs.

  • Oversee the ‘Measuring Devices’ program.

  • Maintain the ‘Formal Release’ program.

  • Establish and maintain product sampling matrices, product specifications and sight samples, communicate revisions to necessary personnel as needed.

  • Responsible to oversee annual employee training program.

  • Oversee environmental monitoring program and corrective action plan as needed.

  • Composite appropriate samples for various testing at an outside laboratory.

  • Responsibility to identify food safety and/or product integrity issues and to initiate and record actions for issues reported.

  • Responsibility to communicate and review any information deemed necessary, including but not limited to, food safety, product integrity, formulas, specifications and/or changes, with customers.

  • Authority to purchase necessary chemicals and lubricants.

  • Responsibility to maintain overall plant sanitation.

  • Responsible for verifying a preventive control measure, in this position’s absence, refer to ‘In Case of Absence’ above.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience / Qualifications Required:

  • High School Diploma

  • Bachelor’s degree in food science or related field preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in quality or manufacturing preferred.

Training Required:

  • Annual Training

  • HACCP Training

  • PCQI Training

  • GFSI Training

  • Laboratory Equipment Training

  • Food Safety and Sanitation Training
