Territory Development/Field Agronomist and Origination Specialist – Washington State – Central &/or Southeast Washington

We are seeking a dedicated Territory Development and Origination Field Representative to join our team in Washington. In this role, you will play a crucial part in building and maintaining strong relationships with growers and dry bean industry contacts to ensure the successful management of our territory's production areas. Your efforts will directly contribute to the growth and success of our seed and commercial origination objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Grower Relationship Building

  • Scout for new growers and foster relationships with existing growers in collaboration with existing partnerships.

  • Provide crop production assistance to growers, offering guidance from contracting through harvest.

  • Work to develop the bean growing skill set of new and existing growers.

Industry Relationship Building

  • Cultivate industry contacts in all growing regions.

  • Assist in developing an asset/partnership strategy for receiving seed and commercial beans.

  • Lead freight planning and analysis to maximize revenue while allowing for flexibility in movement.

Contracting and Field Placement

  • Write annual contracts for seed and commercial acres in alignment with origination targets and quality requirements.

  • Collaborate with fellow field representatives and partners to place acres strategically based on various factors such as irrigation type, field size, and grower preference.

Field Management and Crop Support

  • Conduct regular field visits to assess crop emergence, plant populations, pest and disease issues, and irrigation needs.

  • Provide timely crop status report-outs and yield estimates to growers, along with research support and recommendations for improving crop quality.

Harvest Coordination and Quality Assurance

  • Advise growers on the best time to harvest and ensure timely harvest operations.

  • Facilitate communication between growers and receiving sites to ensure efficiency

  • Ensure compliance with certifying agency requirements and inspections throughout the growing season and harvest.

Reporting and Documentation

  • Submit timely reports, including mileage, expenses, and other relevant documentation.

  • Maintain accurate records of delivered and planted seed, returns, and other relevant data for end-of-season settlement accounting.

Off-Season and Various Activities

  • Assist in planning and hosting annual grower meetings and attend local agricultural and seed industry events.

  • Acquire and maintain necessary licenses, participate in safety trainings, and engage in team meetings and events as required.

  • Provide feedback to management on market conditions, grower concerns, and other relevant information to support business decisions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Business Administration, or related field preferred.

  • Five or more years of experience in agriculture, particularly in crop production and/or agronomy.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with growers and industry peers.

  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.

  • Proficiency in basic computer applications for data entry and reporting.

  • Willingness to travel within the territory as needed, including attending field visits and industry events. Occasional over-night travel will be necessary.

Salary/Wage Range: $80K to $130K, but we have flexibility.
